Just back from a three day Holiday in Venice.  Great location to get away from it all for a short while.

If you’re thinking of doing the same thing, some advice

1)  Save up.  With the exchange rate from GBP to EUR as it is at the moment everything was looking expensive.  Add on the cost of a cup of coffee in San Marco (about 9 pounds) and it’s enough to make you think.  There are cheaper places there if you can find them

2) You can get a ‘travel card’ for 24, 36, 48 hours etc from the airport that covers the bus into venice (the number 5) and the vaporetto water buses.  Well worth the freedom it gives.

Due to the unfortunate closing of the company I was hosting with (KJO Webservices) I’ve now moved to Xilo.  I’ve taken the opportunity to increase storage space and to update WordPress.  The update couldn’t be done automatically so I decided to export posts, remove the migrated version and install fresh, then to import the posts back again.  Hopefully it’s all nice and clean now.
